Alyssa Morris

Literary Agent

Alyssa Morris has spent fifteen years in publishing and media, including as a columnist at Barnes and Noble and as an editor and marketing strategist at Amazon. She has deep experience in social media, managing accounts for brands with hundreds of thousands of followers. She combined her knowledge of the romance space with her internet savvy with Romancing the Phone, a popular substack about BookTok trends lauded by Electric Literature and Book Riot.

Alyssa is focused on romance and romantasy, and is especially looking to work with indie published authors looking to make the jump to traditional or hybrid publication and seeking a partner to help grow their careers to the next level. She loves cozy slow burns, witty banter, interesting trope inversions, and fanfiction concepts applied to commercial fiction (if you have a novel with coffee shop AU or secret marriage or soulmate identifying marks, please send it her way). Alyssa is acquiring all subgenres of romance with the exception of dark romance without explicit consent. In the romantasy space, she is looking for skillful worldbuilding and unique concepts, particularly romantasy based on non-western myth or with older characters.

Alyssa's favorite non-client authors include: Cat Sebastian, Lucy Parker, Emily Henry, Ali Hazelwood, Lisa Kleypas, Tia Williams, Sherry Thomas, Nalini Singh, Sharon Shinn, and Patricia Briggs.

Alyssa has a B.A. in English from Pomona College. When she isn't reading, working, or being extremely online, her hobbies include baking and hiking.
